So obviously, our Halloween costumes were Frozen themed. Obviously because what girl doesn’t want to dress up like Elsa for Halloween? And what parent doesn’t want to be their children’s supporting cast in the fantasy of being their favorite character? After repeatedly asking Alexis what she wants to be for Halloween, we have surrendered to the standard and typical answer of many 2 year olds. ELSA!
So 2 weeks before our Mickey’s No-So-Scary Halloween party, we went in search of family Halloween costumes. Surprisingly, no one was offering Kristoff costumes aside from really expensive and not-so-good-looking etsy options. Eventually, we found all of our costumes on DHgate.com (directly from China, ya’ll), which is where we will be ordering all our costumes from now on. Custom made to size ( a must when you’re 5’11” and 6’4″), great quality, acceptable pricing. My skirt fit perfectly and the length was ideal, which is hard to get. My only complaint is for some reason they thought the front of the shirt needed to have some room which made for a pretty uncomfortable and awkward top, but that didn’t stop from the whole toddler population of Magic Kingdom to be convinced that I am princess Anna ( on that in the next post).
It was much fun dressing little Elsa and seeing her reaction to our costumes. “Daddy, you Kristoff?” she kept asking him as he was putting his hat and boots on. She always was so excited to put some sparkle and shimmery shadow on, something I don’t normally allow.
We were staying at Disney’s All Star Sports just for one night for the Mickey’s event and figured we would take the family photos right there in the field before leaving for the park. It turns out it was one of the best decisions we would make, because not only the park was packed but little Elsa fell asleep on the bus (due to a nap she refused to take, but so desperately needed that day). I have some photos from the Halloween events and trick or treating which I will post this week, but for now I will leave you with this.

Yes, yes yes! Great family costume. Andrews boots, lol.
I know you already mentioned your costumes are from China, but it seems like a big departure from what you normally do. I am still confused by your logic that some things be totally toxin free and others are ok, because the experience trumps all. But thats ok, this is your blog not mine. Just curious, I guess.
Anyways, great night for Lexi, I’m sure!
Not everything that is from China is toxic. Cheap things might be, but these are very expensive custom made costumes. They were perfectly normal high quality costumes made of standard fabrics.
And yes, in my opinion childhood experience trumps occasional exposure. It’s not all or nothing. Some people choose to not care about any exposure, others stay away from everything, I pick and choose what I consider worth it and what I would rather avoid because I can and want to and try to strike a balance of living in a bubble in a toxic world versus actually having Lexi experience and have fun in it.
And yes it was an amazing night to be remembered for years!
Can you link to the costume? Looking for an option for myself to go to a convention later this year where I have to dress up!
Just visit the website I mentioned and type in the costume you’re looking for. I am sure they will have it 🙂 have fun!
YES!!! I love this explanation so much! I do everything in my power to ensure we live as clean as possible – but I’m not going to make my little girl miss out on everything because of it.
I feel like because we are good the majority of the time, our bodies are designed to filter out that small moment where we aren’t perfect.
That is my belief anyways.
PS I ADORE your blog. I’ve been a silent reader for going on two years.
Thank you Tiffany!
It’s always nice to hear from “silent” readers 🙂
Adorable !!
I ‘m with you btw, I try to avoid toxics and chemicals, but the experience trumps occasional exposure here too 🙂
{handclap} {thumbsup}
Thank you 🙂
Her perma-grin says it all! I hope she remembers the great fun for many years. When memory doesn’t serve as well, anymore, you have such great photos to enjoy.
Hahahah! You’re right! She doesn’t smile often in photos (though it’s getting better) and here she does have a perma grin! hahahah love it!
