About a year ago I was invited an all women entrepreneurial retreat by Vaera Journeys, a retreat for women. The retreat was held in Mexico in Playa Del Carmen. A country that I already love with a passion and travel to quite frequently.
This year we are doing it again – this time with me as the speaker for the retreat! Read to see what it’s like to go on a business focused retreat for women, what you will learn, and why you should join and come learn from me. 😉

Vaera Journeys Retreat- Different from the Rest
Table of Contents
Retreats are not a new thing for me. I’ve been on a few of them, including a fitness retreat, but there is something about an all women entrepreneurial retreat that really attracted me. It offers a combination of productivity and relaxation in one. It is a retreat for women where I could actually better myself, better my business (or become inspired to start a new one) as well as network, learn from others, relax, recharge, and reset… Sign. me. up.
You may have wondered what it’s like to go on a women only retreat . But until you go on one you really don’t know whether it’s something that you will absolutely love. For me, it was love at first meet and greet and I’m here to tell you what it was like.
Note: I will be the speaker for this year’s retreat so I am super excited to share all my knowledge and experience in different types of businesses and how to market them. There are only a couple spots left, so book fast if you want to join me! There is some info below with a discount code or you can just send me a message and ask questions.
What It Is Like
Vaera Journeys is no ordinary retreat for women. When you think about a retreat for women in Mexico, you probably think about relaxation, “me time,” playing in the waves, and exploring the destination. And yes it’s true, there’s a lot of that. But beyond those basic things, there was a lot of camaraderie, brain storming, learning, and good old girl fun.
I’m not the kind of person who absolutely needs girl company. Throughout my whole childhood and in my adolescence, I have found myself hanging out with boys to avoid girl drama that I had no interest in. I always enjoyed good girlfriends but those seemed very few and hard to find. So going on an all female retreat gave me a little bit of a pause. Am I going to have fun with a bunch of strangers? Is there going to be drama that so often surrounds women?
The thing that I didn’t think through right away is that all these women will have the same goals and the same interests as me. It was wonderful to get to know so many talented and passionate women, connect, and form life-long friendships.
Retreat Experience
We all flew in about the same time and got distributed into our villas. Vaera Journeys retreat was hosted at Mahekal Beach Resort which is a great property in Playa del Carmen with a very boho vibe. I instantly fell in love with our two story villas made out of wooden logs and straw roofs. Every villa had a patio or balcony with hammocks and tables on it so you could easily relax in private between the sessions and activities.
The upcoming retreat is going to take place is Puerto Vallarta on May 2-May 7th at Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel. It will include a few awesome activities outside of the resort and 3 Mastermind sessions with me, as well as workshops.
On our last retreat, every day was planned out with some fun, some learning, and some free time. It was the perfect combination that did not overwhelm or leave you wanting more. We had some time to interact and bond, some time to network, some alone time to just chill.
There were girls from all different backgrounds, ethnicity, business fields and experiences. Those who knew nothing about how to start a business to those who have had years of experience and wanted to advance their knowledge.
Memorable Experiences from 2018 Retreat for Women
Mayan Lunch
One afternoon we all gathered up to pay homage to the place of Mayas by having an authentic outdoor Mayan lunch cooked in the ground. We were greeted by a Mayan chef with hibiscus tea in a coconut bowl and interacted with the rest of the group while the setting was prepared. Then the Mayan chef showed us how Mayans used to make food in a hole in the ground. Afterwards, we ate, laughed, took selfies, and did the normal girl things that you’d expect 🙂
Mornings
Mornings in Mexico in general are my favorite, but this was special because they were spent with my new (and old) friends. Does anyone love the green juice Mexican resorts serve at breakfast? I would load up on that and fruit and we would sit facing the beach outside and enjoy our slow mornings. Probably my favorite part of the day!
Bacalar
The Lake of Seven Colors! This famous lake is located in Southeastern Mexico and boasts 7 different colors. I counted! This was one of our outings during the retreat. I loved it so much I am planning to go back to Bacalar some time soon. We had a nice lakefront lunch by the pier. A boat picked us up after to do a little cruise on the lake and “parked” us in a shallow area known for its nice mineral properties. All the girls proceeded to slather themselves with the sulfur rich mud (yes we stunk). We had a fun photoshoot courtesy of our photographer, Jessica.
After all this time in the water and the sun, we headed over to Rancho Encantado who hosted us for a nice lunch on the lake and a tour of their property which is a place I will be returning to for sure.
Educational Sessions
Educational sessions differ on every retreat. We did a lot knowledge sharing last time since a lot of us were in the same field. For the next retreat, I will be the main speaker, so what we go over will depend slightly on the interests of the group and I will adjust what we discuss and learn based on my initial interactions with everyone.
Topics will include:
- starting a business
- business ideas
- taxes and structure
- marketing your business
- social media marketing
- SEO marketing
- productivity hacks and software
- and much more

Photo sessions
This was an optional activity and of course, I couldn’t miss a photoshoot, especially run by my lovely Jessica. All the girls got amazing images out of the trip and I know they are super happy to have participated in the photoshoots
I could obviously talk about it forever and post never ending photos, but I have to stop somewhere. All of the girls from the retreat look back at our time together and wish we could make it happen again in the same group. The bonding, the fun, the memories, the photos, the learning experiences and the newly gained knowledge was invaluable. I hope some of you can join me this year so we could make new memories and I could share all of my ideas and knowledge with you!
If you know someone who would be interested, send them this post!
