Disney trips… We’ve had two more visits to Disney since the first one and I am just now posting the photos and a quick recap of the Epcot and Magic Kingdom visit when Alexis was 7 months old. I know it’ pretty bad. But what can I say – I get busy. I get a zillion emails from you guys, another zillion for other people, other posts to write and life to live. I have to pick and choose based on urgency and desire. This was neither until now. I just wanted to finish posting pics from our first trip – it was fun, it was memorable, it had to go up on the blog.

EPCOT
The Seas with Nemo:
Lexi was less interested in the ride than she was in the aquarium area outside of the ride. As I wrote previously, she definitely was at the stage where things in her vicinity were more interesting that objects on the screen. In the aquarium section she actually got to crawl around, stand up and touch the fish and got a real kick out of it.
There is a small area there with tall tanks and various tropical fish among coral that you could get up close to and this was probably one of the best moments of the whole visit (yeah a fish tank, I know). She giggled and chased the fish all around the tanks
That is really all we could manage that day. It was wicked hot and Lexi quickly got cranky. We visited the baby area and I put her to sleep, but as soon as I tried to transfer her into the stroller ( twice) she would wake up and freak out, so we decided to be done with the morning at the parks and leave for the day, take an easy day just to relax. There aren’t many baby friendly activities at Epcot anyways, though I would have loved to have shown her Living with the Land.
Somehow we managed to ride Spaceship Earth and that was a relatively pleasant experience for Alexis despite the darkness.
MAGIC KINGDOM
The day at Magic Kingdom was the opposite of what Epcot ended up being. We spent the whole morning and afternoon there, just breaking for an hour long nap at the baby center. That refreshed all of us, especially Lexi, enough to last through the parade and then retreat back to the resort for some dinner and quite time.
We actually preferred taking the bus from the resort because that meant not having to park in the transportation center and take monorail or the boat over to the park. When it came time to go back to the resort due to naptime (on days that we had her nap back at the hotel), it was much easier for us to wait for the bus than have to try and get back to our car. That was just for Magic Kingdom though, other parks we did just fine parking. For the bus ride it was VERY useful to have books around. We would read book after book while waiting for the bus to arrive and then the whole ride back to the resort.
The first thing we did upon arrival is board the train that goes around Magic Kingdom to get to the other side of the park. It’s a good way of moving around the park with a baby, especially during summer heat- fast and easy.
We didn’t really ride many rides. Mostly little kiddie ones since we were there for Alexis. Aladdin is always a big favorite and she loved the up and down motion. At some point the camel spit (yes they spit water at you) and hit us right in the eyes. That was fun 🙂 Especially considering Andrew got it on camera!
Waiting for the parade.
It was so incredibly hot – the only downside of going in September, but we decided to stay for the parade. I don’t think Lexi knew what to make of it. She definitely watched the whole thing without blinking but with a very serious face. I can’t wait to take her this time to see her reaction to the characters and the music and dancing! Only when I put her on my shoulders did she start smiling, but something tells me it was more because of being so high up than the parade!
I think one of my favorite parts of that day( or was it some other day that trip?) was finding the right Minnie ears. Not the glittery ones, or the hat ones, but good old black ears with a bow. Strangely enough they were difficult to find. Alexis looked SO adorable and Disney-like in them. I die looking at these photos.
Oh and the redesigned Toonland area ( or whatever it used to be called). I miss Mickey’s and Minnie’s houses, but the water splash area is going to be to DIE for now that Alexis is walking. She loved it the first time when she wasn’t even crawling and I had to carry her through it and now… my little fishy will go nuts over it.
We once again caught the tail end of some other parade on the way to the front of the park. And that was it for our first trip to Disney.
{the next two trip recaps will be shorter since I didn’t take that many photos and both trips were cut short}

She’s so tiny! Aw!
How do you find sleeping while travelling? Both back then and now that she’s older? With my daughter (11 mos), the nights are really not much fun if we’re not at home, she just can’t seem to settle down. And naps, never mind naps. What do you do to make those hotel nights manageable (and maybe even fun?)?
Those Minnie ears are priceless! Such a sweetie.
Honestly, it’s not too bad if not better. But you have to take into account that Lexi isn’t a good sleeper to begin with, so travelling exhausts her to the point where she tends to sleep even better.
The only issue that we have is that we co-sleep and have to make sure that she sleeps in the middle and that just makes things a bit uncomfortable.
I love to go new places with her, she gets so bored at home that going somewhere always excites her and makes her happy to see new places and even just stay at the hotel I’ve made it my goal to at least take day trips more often and stay overnight somewhere.
The minnie ears are adorable. I love those chubby thighs on her!
Look how little she was!! It’s been so much fun watching her grow up.
I can’t wait to take her to Disney! It’s the thing I look forward to most of all! We’re thinking like 3/4 years old. I love reading about tips and suggestions for things to do at Disney, so I look forward to that post in a few years :]
I’m dying to go in September again to see how she does then.
Love love love Disney! We are taking my son Hugo to DW in January when he is 18 months and staying on site at Port Orleans French Quarter. I’d love to hear some of your tips on doing Disney with an infant!
Oh i love the french quarter, definitely my fave among all the moderate resorts!
I have a post about Disney with an infant. It will be different with an 18 months old. We went with Alexis three times between 7 months and 12 months and each time it was different.
My goodness what lens did you use on your camera as those shots look GREAT! I’m already bugging my husband when we can plan our first trip there with the little one. I’ve been there tons, but never as a mom! 🙂 I’m so looking forward to seeing it all again through her little eyes.
I am not sure which lens I used in these shots, but my to go lens is this 85mm.

Elena, I cannot believe you haven’t stumbled upon custom Disney clothing yet for Lexi! Seriously, you cannot go to Disney again without it!! There are tons of designers all over facebook making amazing custom Disney stuff – here are just a couple I love:

I didn;t know there was Disney themed custom clothing… 🙂
But these are a bit over the top for my taste. Maybe when she’s a lot bigger and can pull off the zillion ruffles 🙂 Right now she’ll look like a big ruffle ball!
LOL yes, those ones are the “really good” ones, haha. 🙂 There are tons and tons though, all over etsy.com and stuff. These are much simpler, peasant type dresses that she does into all kinds of characters. They might suit your style better?

Yes, definitely, some of the simpler cotton ones look cute! Thanks, Stephanie! That’s a good recommendation 🙂
